LJ Strike

For those of you who don't already know, there has been a strike scheduled for Friday, March 21st, 2008, during which we hope to have many members of LiveJournal provide LJ with absolutely no content for twenty-four hours. This means no posting and no commenting. If you post elsewhere and have it set up to be posted through a feed on LiveJournal, don't do it. Stay away from LiveJournal for twenty-four hours. That can't be too hard, can it? I know some of you are probably quite active on LiveJournal and will find it hard to stay away for an entire day, just as I will, but this is something that needs to be done, to show the people running LiveJournal that we're watching the changes they are making, that we're paying attention, that we're discontent, and that we want to be heard and taken in to consideration. We are not simply users who can be tossed to the side and ignored. We are the people who make up LiveJournal. Without us, without the content we create, without our words, our voices, our creativity, our participation, there would be no LiveJournal. This is a fact, and it needs to be realized and understood and then taken in to consideration when making decisions regarding the way that LiveJournal is run. The strike is only a few days away, so there isn't all too much time to prepare. While this is unfortunate, it isn't enough to keep this strike from taking place. It will take place, the second it is meant to, and it would be best to have as many people take part as possible. Please, spread the word. Spread it fast. There are only a few days to organize this. If you find that you care about LiveJournal or care about the people you interact with on LiveJournal or simply want it to remain a place where you can entertain yourself without constant censorship and money-hungry practices being thrown in without the consideration of those who use the service, act now. If you don't wish to spread the word, that is fine, but please: refrain from using LiveJournal on Friday, March 21st. Do something else for a change. It's for a good cause. (:

For background on this strike and why it is being held, please read the following posts:
http://beckyzoole.livejournal.com/394838.html
http://beckyzoole.livejournal.com/395310.html

To find out exactly when the strike begins and ends, depending on where you are located, please see this:
http://beckyzoole.livejournal.com/395125.html (for the L.A. peeps, I believe it begins Thursday at 5pm)

What's this about?
* It's about free and ad-free LiveJournal accounts being abolished for new members, ignoring the advice from the newly-formed Advisory Board.
* It's about LJ staff trying to sneak this decision in under the radar, and when people found out, telling the users it was done 'to make the signup process less confusing'.
* It's about LJ staff failing to apologize for trying to hide the facts from view and for lying about the actual reasons for their actions.
* And finally, it's about the latest decision to hide certain user interests from the list of Most Popular Interests, some of them being fanfiction, bisexuality, sex and depression. This decision was not announced or explained in any way. Users found out for themselves.

Long time, no update...I know. I horrible about that.

Since my last post here, I've done a few things here and there:
-Promotional gigs for CVS/American Greetings (both Halloween & Christmas), Target and Sears.
-Student scenes for Art Institute & L.A. City College
-Spec commercial for Art College of Design
-auditioned for Bravo's "Make Me a Supermodel" and got interviewed by Fox Reality's show "Reality Remix", but I didn't make the cut for Bravo.
-other various auditions
-I'm back in acting class. I'm studying at Scott Sedita Acting Studio. It's been the most rewarding time and the most trying time. I'm seeing results, but damn it's not easy.
-I'm getting yet another new booker at my modeling agency.

Now onto 2008:
-Audition for a Travel Channel commercial tomorrow....time to rock that puppy out.
-Meet my new booker on Jan 8th

oh yeah..... Go Buckeyes!!!

Even though I didn't make the cut for Cricket Feet Showcase, I rocked the audition (according to my feedback email from the casting director). "such great raw talent that needs a little polishing" (exact quote). That being said, I think I'm going to kick it straight to Scott Sedita Acting Studio and take the tv/film comedy class.

The Heidi Klum informercial was a long freaking day with a 6:30am call time and I was completely exhausted. Heidi is beautiful, funny and super nice. Freak of nature skinny, but in a "this is me naturally" way, not a "I starve myself completely" way (if you know what I mean). That being said, I will be a size 4 again.

Audition for Southwest Airlines commercial tomorrow. It's a national spot too...network, cable...the works.

There's still time to give to the Jerry Lewis MDA telethon today. This is a cause that is rather dear to me as my uncle died of complications related to this disease and 2 of my cousins have forms of it as well. I also have a couple classmates from high school who currently have or succumbed to the disease. Even if you can only give $5, it all adds up (click to see what pledge dollars can do) and make a difference.

wow, i haven't updated since April...bad Amy!!!

I'm so horrible about updating this....i know I suck. I'll be better, I swear. This time I mean it because it's all part of my new focus.

So here's a little bit about what's been going on since April....

Most recently:
-had a callback for a national commercial (Bank of America). I didn't book it, but it was cool to be 1 of 9.
-print audition for LG
-booked a modeling gig for the Lifetime show "How To Look Good Naked" (it's a new show hosted by Carson from "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" fame. I don't know when it's going to air as the show doesn't premiere until Jan 2008 according to everything I've seen online)
-I now have my own weekly internet show on Operator11.com. It's not a set time every week, so you'll have to check here or my myspace to find out what time. it's a random mix of things...mostly whatever topic I feel like talking about.
-I'm auditioning for Cricket Feet Showcase on Sept 6.

Other random stuff:
-met Cindy Crawford when I did her informercial for Meaningful Beauty.
-had a really cool photo shoot that I booked off Model Mayhem (I'll put a picture at the end of the post)
-I finally got something that I've always wanted: a modeling portfolio with an agency logo on it. I got it along with my new comp cards for BMG. I'm on the agency website too!! (page 5 of the women's section, I think, but they're changing the website since a lot of the L.A. models are showing up as being in phoenix...including me...no, I didn't move. I'm still in L.A.)
-The run of "Diary of a Catholic School Girl Dropout" was freaking great. We even got extended an extra week....the first time a show I've been in has received an extension. rock on!
-I did a makeup gig for Fred Segal beauty and got a killer gift bag that included Smashbox foundation primer. That stuff is the bomb!!

photo shoot picture

front of comp card

back of comp card
